I had a/f and dr chen sorted the problem. top doctor anyone would be lucky to have him looking after them. remembers who you are takes interest totally in your health.he is very busy all the time.bu t is a very caring doctor thanks Rob Turner

I had atrial fibrillation and Dr Chen recommended an ablation. He listens to patients, explains procedures clearly without being condescending and is very reassuring. He and his team at Harefield were brilliant.

I had been suffering from AF for a number of years before seeing Dr Chen, who recommended that I undergo a Cardiac Oblation procedure. I had a choice of a General or Local Anaesthetic and I had no hesitation in choosing the local option and staying conscious. The procedure seemed to take about an hour. The initial insertion via my groin was a little uncomfortable but otherwise I only experienced the occasional dull pain which was quickly remedied by Dr Gallagher and his team. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this procedure, under a local anaesthetic, to anyone, as it is quicker, safer and probably more effective than the General Anaesthetic version. My main source of discomfort during the oration was an urge to urinate, which wasn't helped by the coldness of the operating theatre. I understand that this is probably best for the surgical team but I wondered if there was a way of keeping the patient warmer, as probably many of us are not only understandably nervous but also taking Diuretic medication for Hypertension?

Sixteen months ago I had a funny turn one morning, which my Dr diagnosed as A/F and I was referred to Dr Chen who as luck would have it was holding his clinic at St Peters on the same day. After consultation, explanation and efforts of trying to restore normal sinus rhythm via Cardioversion, it was agreed that an ablation procedure would be the answer to my cardiac problem. On the day of the procedure, naturally I was feeling apprehensive but Dr Chen had explained what was going to occur which put my mind at rest. I was wheeled down to the operating theater where I was greeted by a very experienced team that in no time had me ready for the procedure. Five and a half later I was awoken and told that I would be going back to the ward, I didn't sleep much through the night as I just didn't feel tired. In the morning I used the toilet unaided later on I was given the all clear to return home. I would at this point like to thank the whole team at Harefield under the expert eye of Dr Chen, they all with no exceptions knew what to do and made me feel very comfortable in an environment that without prior information of would have felt very intimidating. A very special thanks to Pat little for Her dedication not only to her patients but to her job, like Dr Chen she has a great manner and personality that puts you mind at rest even though the roof may have just fallen in, once again, massive thanks to everyone form my family and I.

I would like to express mine & my family's enormous sense of gratitude to Dr. Chen & all the staff at St. Peters Hospital during my time there. Having been diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation Dr. Chen advised that I undergo Ablation Surgery. Throughout the process he was very informative, has an excellent bedside manner & I felt confident throughout the process that I was in good hands. During the surgery (for which I was conscious) I was amazed at the professionalism & use of very modern tech that St. Peters were employing (3D heart scanning). The surgery lasted longer than estimated but this was because my ablation areas were difficult to find. During the more painful ablations, I was given Fentanly which helped immensely in numbing the pain. Since the operation I have not experienced anymore heart issues & am back riding my bicycle to work which is fantastic! I wish Dr. Chen & his time all the best for the future & would encourage them to keep up the incredible work they do!
